Little Help Here?

My mom just bought 3 new plants for the garden. Some aren't exactly new, but I still need help. It would be great if someone can tell me the needs of each plant so they don't decline in health.

A crinum lily

An orchid (needs an ID)

And some curcurma/siamese tulips

  1. Curcuma loves the sun the most here. Those blooms can last pretty long as long as the rainfall doesn't crush them ;-) Although I am not sure which crinum you have, you can start growing the plant in partial shade. Sorry can't help you on that orchid ID. Nevertheless, I have seen this kind of orchid do really well in bright shade with some sun. Happy planting and be patience with their returning blooms.

  2. Thanks, Stephanie! I was worried they'll die and my pessimistic father will complain of wasting money on doomed plants.

  3. I have also seen crinum lilies (asian and african) growing under the full sun in the Secret Garden, the Putrajaya Botanic Garden and outside my neighbours' houses. Your orchid looks like some kind of cattleya? Well, I'm sure Orkid de Dangau knows. I thought orchids like to be off the ground. Your siamese tulips are growing well.

  6. Sorry Aaron I'm not much help here except to say the crinum lily needs full sun. They are beautiful plants. How's school going? Been thinking about you.

  7. One thing about that orchid - you need to hang it rather than placing in on ground level.

  8. @Becca

    Thanks for the tip. School's been busy, but I'm managing quite well.

    @James

    It came potted like that, and I don't think there's anywhere else to hang it.
