A Glimpse of My Garden

Here is my garden, designed by my father who thinks flowering plants are ugly and a waste of time, so most of the plants are foliage plants. My dream is to have my own garden, without anyone to meddle with.

The front garden, with palms, an agave and a row of sansevieria.

A row of conifers and some calathea

A row of calathea along my front door and ferns on the window.

Going to tha back garden, a row of trees(don't know what they are)

Crinum lilies and other plants at the side of my house.

A row of nepenthes along a fence in the backyard.

Dendrobiums, fan palms, my wilting hippeastrum and a row of seeds and bulbs.(My dad asked me to move them, saying that they make the garden messy. Can the rain lilies, passion flower, amaryllis, peruvian lily, sunflower and zinnia take the heat?)

My grow rack, filled with carnivorous plants and tillandsias

The end! With more palms, elephant's ears, lotus and more seeds!(Do they really make the garden look messy?)

Seedlings, seeds and bulbs!

I just bought some bulbs last Friday and they arrived yesterday. I bought about 20 lilies and received various seeds and 3 passion flower seedlings as a gift. I still can't identify the free seeds other than passion fruits and sunflower seeds as well as a yellow rain lily. Here are some of my new plants.

3 Passion flower seedlings

Eucrosia bicolor bulb

Amaryllis(or something related) bulb

Rain lily bulbs

Hope they grow well.

Crinum Lily

This is a large flowering plant in my garden. It has spider lily-like flowers. Can someone help identify it?

UPDATE: Thanks to Grower Jim for identifying this plant. It is a species of crinum lily.

The flowers, white and scentless

Any help will be appreciated.

Red Hippeastrum

A red hippeastrum that I bought from Cameron Highlands last year. My dad asked me to put it in the shade but the plant looked terrible there. So I moved 1 to the back with lots of sunlight(top) and another under the shade(bottom) as an experiment. The results:

So they need lots of sunlight. And it rewarded me with this:

Days later:

And today! I'm so happy!

Gotta find more lilies. Gloriosa lily/day lily/amaryllis/rain lily/spider lily!

Water Liles

Waterlilies, so graceful and beautiful.

Floating on water, with brilliant flowers and leaves.

Gentle and soft colours, surrounded by rich green leaves

Untainted by the muddy water they grow in.

My only vegetable

My only vegetable, the chilli. So far it's growing well and providing me constantly with chilli for cooking.

The harvest today!

I first started growing orchids after my mom was interested by them. She bought lots of dendrobiums with various colours. So far these and a vanda are the only orchids I've succesfully grown. Phalaenopsis just die on me. Oh well.

The whole family!

The first time I saw tillandsias, I felt the urge to buy them. My father agreed to buy one and that got him addicted too and he bought more tillandsias. Most of them are unidentified except T. ionantha.

Forgotten the name of this large tilly.

T. ionantha(bottom left) and another unknown tilly.

Hope someone can help identify the various species.
